Project Information

This is the 2nd of 2 cabinets that I built to utilize the ridiculous amount of wasted space (picture 5) below the fold up wings of my repurposed tv cabinet miter saw station. The first cabinet that I built is a router table with a flip up lid and tons of storage. That project is in my project list.

With the 2nd cabinet, I wanted to make a flip top reloading station. Unfortunately, I struggled with the design to the point that I decided to just build the cabinet, and to revisit the flip top reloading station later.

As the cabinet was going to be approximately 34" wide and 30" deep, I decided to make it double sided to ensure easy access to all of its contents. The top is made of 2 pieces of laminated MDF with pine banding. The top is finished with shellac and paste wax.

The cabinet is made of 3/4" plywood. It is on casters for easy access to both sides. I used Kona wood stain from Rustoleum. 3 coats of poly were applied for protection.

One side of the cabinet holds all of my reloading equipment, components and brass. The other side is filled with various shop items and supplies.

An unexpected yet hugely valuable benefit of this project is that when both cabinets are pulled out and pushed together, I now have an assembly table that is roughly 7 feet x 3 feet.

Thanks for looking!
