Project Information

I just built this sled for moulding in some raised panel doors we are doing.
I added an insert to bevel the miter. It is removable using threaded inserts in the sled. It is a piece beveled at
7 degrees. This allows the moulding to set flat on the bevel of the raised panel. You can remove the pieces to do normal flat miters, or change pieces to a different bevel.

The fence is bolted to threaded inserts to allow for adjustment or replacement.

Baltic Birch plywood with Mahogany. Scraps were glued to create thicker pieces.
One coat of Tung oil finish

Enjoy

Kent! Are you well? No maple and walnut? A plain shop jig? I'll grab my doctor Buddy and be right there. Rand

I like the screw-down adjustment for the fence. I built one with the fence screwed down permanently after very careful measuring and clamping. It is off by just a hair, but it's annoying enough. I may have a date with some T-nuts tonight to fix that.

Good work!

Nice sled… Good job!

Do you cut all your Right Cuts first then your Left Cuts with stop blocks?

I made one not too long ago from a scrap piece of particle board and a large 45 triangle I made from a plastic drafting 45. Works great… Looks very similar to yours.

Very nice sled Kent. I like the idea of the bevel strips to get the trim to lay flat on the panel.

If the miter sled is good the work is good

The pictures show the perfect result
I like it

Two piece in one a miter sled and a cross cut sled

A good idea

Thanks for sharing and beautiful work

A little Bubinga would have spiced it up a little although the utilitarian look is good too.

Whoa guys, give me a break. You make it sound like mahogany is some cheap undesirable junk wood.
I had no idea what I started by using Bubinga on some of my jigs. I guess next you will expect me to build jigs with Ebony, or maybe some real elephant Ivory!--LOL

I guess I asked for all those comments-huh?

Aside from that, thanks for the other kind remarks
