Project Information

Was planning on making a humidor for my future father in law this christmas and didn't want to have bare miters. Again I had some scrap ply on hand and put this Miter Key Sled together. Well some of the materials that I wanted for the humidor I wouldn't have by christmas but this sled will come in very handy for other projects as well. Almost totaly constructed from ply with some pine supports.

Nice easy design idea… I would add one small thing though.. A cut line up the insides of the jig (in pen or pencil) to show where the actually cut will be… Might make it easier to line up with where you want the cut to be…
Just a thought…
Thanks for posting the pics… might have to build one of these for my table saw too…

This is great. I have been thinking about how miter keys are cut, but until now, I had not seen the actual jig. I imagined it, but your photos are worth a 1000 words.
Now I would like to see the sample joint that you can produce with this jig, even if it is only a test run.

Thanks!

I'm not the only one who overbuilds things. Like chesapeakebob, I had a box with miter keys on my to-do list and had only discussed it with myself in silence till now.

nice sled ,
the only addition i would make ,
is a stop block to get all corners the same ,
make it movable ,
and you can make various different ones .

it will also keep the box from moving around in the cut .
