Project Information

This Mission style bookrack was featured on the cover of a recent woodworking magazine and I decided it was just the right small project to expirement with some of the finishing techniques I'd been reading about. It's made of red oak (admittedly not as authentiquely Mission as I could have been) with an amber dye stain, shellac washcoat, followed by a rosewood glaze.

The pegs are blackwood (who can afford ebony these days!).

Nice bookrack. I really like the mission style… Do you remember which woodworking magazine it was in? I would like to know if you could tell me.
Thanks

Max,
Thanks much for the kind words. The reference magazine was American Woodworker (#124) from October 2006. It's a real straight forward project and works well.

I was looking at the magazine rack and its hard to tell if there are pegs in the sliding rail or just square mortise holes.
