Project Information
Lots of firsts on this project. I couldn't find a good set of plans for exactly what I wanted, so I just sort of set out on my own.
Mission-inspired nightstands (to go with a matching headboard, also in my projects) out of white oak, all mortise-and-tenon joinery. The only metal fasteners are the screws attaching the top (fixed at the front, floating with some handmade wooden "clips" on the sides and back to allow for wood movement).
Cutting all of the through-tenons took a while…much less room for error than on a regular tenon. All the joinery was hand-cut, including the half-blind dovetails.
Big shout out to Marc Spagnuolo (The Wood Whisperer) for his shows…they really taught me a lot.
