Beautiful table, I really like it

Nice table. I'm going to show your design to my wife. We currently have a round pedestal table that is too large for our dining area and have been discussing making a smaller one. I can't reduce the top on the current one because the carved feet stick out almost to the width of the top.

Questions: It looks like you put a wide molding trim around the edge of the table top. In the past I have had problems with mitered corners like that either expanding or contracting at the joint. Oak moves more with the grain than across it and the joints often fail to stay tight or push and bow out. Did you do anything to allow for this movement? Also to the legs move with the top when it is opened for adding a leaf?

The rails are secured to the tabletop by metal fasteners that allow for wood movement. The legs do not move. The top is on sliders that are made for pedestal tables.
