That is absolutely unique, Dan. Interesting how you do the tiles. I'm not sure I've ever heard of that technique. Something else unique. Very nice work.

Forgot to mention the method for the antique finish. Really pretty simple.

"Dazziling brand" Splendid gold paint. Very yellow gold metallic color.
Followed with a couple coats of garnett shellac.
Walnut paste wax and then another coat of shellac to lock it together.

Where did you get the "trained worms". It's amazing how carefully they bored in at the corners. Was it the same worm doing each corner, or was it a team? LOL

Thanks a pant load pal, just kiddin, I really appreciate this opportunity. It really looks like fun. How long you been doing this? Done any good as far as dinaro selling them, it sure would'nt seem like it. You are a cool person and generous I might add. I used to love working in clay or any medium as far as that goes. It does'nt limit you. That was a long time ago, I don't know if I can even do anything like that anymore. I played with sculpture a little bit after the Army and before, but by the time I got out of the service I had a job in a foundry that paid really good, a wife, and a kid. No time to explore my artist self anymore. Had bills to pay. Making good money working double shifts 4 or 5 days a week and partying like there was no tomorrow. Had the GI Bill I went one term. Just too much. Maybe it ain't too late…. thanks again, mike

I read that you worked in a foundry. Making tiles is alot like casting metals. Mostly like green sand. Put the clay in the mold without any bubbles or pockets of air. Tamp it in a bit make sure it fits into details and let it set up until it falls out of the mold. Don't forget to use draft angles on the mold design etc. Any type of clay will work, alot depends what you clay have on hand or local to your area. Slip works well too, but takes longer in the mold. There many excellent websites on the net, explaining the process in great detail.

Found the tile mold this weekend and am pressing a few more tiles. This is the mold I used to make
"the clearing" tile series. As stated above I made the mold from a mahogany wood carving. I still have the carving and the mold has made about 70 tiles. It is getting worn, but still produces decent tiles.
