I definitely get hung up on the perfection as well, though I have to say - I haven't done all that much coping. What I particularly love about trim work projects is that you really can make them as perfect as you like. It's all about the time you invest, and if something doesn't come out exactly the way I want, I just rip it down and do it again. Like you say above.

I have a hall and stairway project posted on this site - and I'm now in the process of starting my dining room from scratch as well. The room is currently decimated: a clean canvas, with some sheet rock patches. Will be doing crown moldings, fluted casings/rosettes around the doors & arches, adding full wall shadow boxes/wall frames - and maybe even doing a faux finish within the frames themselves. That's the plan, anyway - will see how it evolves.

Since I only have the weekends (like most everyone I would guess), this room could end up taking me a couple of months. But that's fine - it will be done when it's done!
