Project Information

this is just a simple cup but what i wanted to show was the beauty of the mimosa or (silk wood).this was from a tree i had cut down about 8 years ago,at the time i wasn't turning except for pens but i thought maybe someday, glad i did.surprising the wood even though outside the whole time was dry to about 15%.this is 3" h x 4" w.finished with 1 coat sanding sealer,3 coats gf salad bowl finish and 1 coat wax.wood was very hard.

Less is more, it looks wonderful and that wood makes it looks like there's coffee and chocolate in it.

That mimosa sure is purdy, I'll have to seek some out!

With smaller pieces like that, you should make a set, perhaps a tray to go with. Perfect for a night of football and grog 8^)

Surprised you had no issues with cracks turning that direction, Good one!
