Project Information

I recently "upgraded" from a Makita SP6000J corded track saw to a Milwaukee M18 cordless track saw (model 2831-20). I already have several M18 batteries and chargers so I opted for the tool-only Milwaukee saw. This left me without a case, and despite my existing collection of PACKOUT casery, I couldn't get over the bulk of the M18 track saw PACKOUT case.

Turns out the M18 saw fits well in the systainer case that the Makita SP6000J comes in. With a few pieces of 3/4" and 1/2" plywood scrap, the saw fits in snugly and rattle free. Images and dimensions of the pieces are posted here in hopes of saving others a little time should they be interested in the solution. The parts fit snugly and sort of lock each other in place, but just to avoid hassle they are held in place with double-stick turners tape.

Dimensions for main sawing pieces:
3/4" ply
  • (2) 28x85mm
  • (1) 56x356mm
  • (1) 187x58mm (notched)
  • (1) 265x87mm
1/2" ply
- (1) 48x180mm

Dimensions for battery holders (makes two battery holders):
1/2" ply
  • (2) 47x60mm
  • (4) 22x60mm
