Project Information

This is a Norfolk Island pine slab that wanted to be a desk. I have had the dovetailed legs in my head for many years. I saw it somewhere but don't remember where. The geometry for the mahogany legs and trays was inspired by Mark Spagnolo AKA the wood whisperer. The angles (34 degrees) were just right for the giant dovetails. The Trays were sliced from the off cut.

Very nicely done. I like the design and wood color choices. The shelves look cool, but they seem like they might be in the perfect location for maximum knee pain when bump into them.

Actually Swirt, the shelves seem like they would be in the way but I am 6'1, ( mostly legs ) and I fit just fine. They don't extent either inside or out too far. No bruises yet!

That is pretty nice! The finish looks like glass. I thought it was a marble top at first.
How are the shelves attached?

Looks cool. I am wondering why you put the dovetail off center on the leg? Was it a design choice or structural consideration?

Beautiful desk! I love the angles and of course those fabulous dovetails. Great Job with your finish and wood selection. The wood contrast is really eye catching.
