Project Information

Mesquite w/Walnut, Maloof inspired rocker. Just finished this rocker up to take to a mesquite show in Fredericksburg TX. Sold it the second day, over 5 other rockers that were there at the show. I changed the design of this rocker a little and so far this is the most comfortable. This is the first rocker that I did out of mesquite and I found that the wood really fits well with this design. Although it is a little hard to shape and the sanding on our allergies was rough.

That chair is out standing in a field! Great job, looks very comfortable. Not surprised it sold quick.

How do you shape it? Hand tools, files, spokeshave?

Tim I use the angle grinders with a Kutzall wheel to get the bulk off then just the rasp I use the Nicholson #49 & 50.On Mesquite I also use a Japanese Rasp called a Shinto.

If people only knew how hard it is to have this kind of outcome…they would pay millions for chairs like that. Well done…

Scott-

The chair is a work of art, truely beautiful.

How did the show go? The LOML was under the weather and we could not make it.
I understand from some others, that sales were pretty good.

Thanks for posting
