Project Information

My first posting of my project!

I made these memory boxes for a neighbor to give to grandkids. 2 of the larger ones and 7 smaller boxes. Also made a couple valet trays for the son in laws.

Mostly walnut with a ash burl veneer inlay that I found online. Around the inlay I glued up African hardwood pen blanks to create "checkering". Used little magnets to hold lids in location. Valet trays were an after thought to use up excess lumber.

I really like that top!! If you didnt say it was ash, I would have guessed it to be olivewood.

That Burl with the colorful border is an eye candy special. Nice work. I imagine a lot of smiles will follow these boxes.

Beautiful boxes! Can you describe your process to build the lids? Did you veneer over walnut, or something like MDF?

Very nice set of boxes. The design you chose for the lids is very attractive. Congrats on your DT3
