Project Information

My son is here visiting from CT. and wanted to make some wine balancers. And because I just finished my veneer press, we started off the first one with some simple marquetry to see how the press worked. The sailboat should fit in nicely in Mystic, CT. The press worked GREAT! We then tried a little different style with some curves. Turned out pretty niffty. And finally did several with some scrollsawing. I think we ended up making about a dozen altogether. It was great hanging out with my son in the shop.

John,

They all turned out very nice, I especially like the crab and light house ones. Sounds like you had a nice and productive time with your son….

I looked at the press last night and it turned out great and by the looks of it it works well for you .
The balancers are all very nice but the one in the second and third pic is my favorite , very unique .
Yes it's always nice to spend time in the shop with your son and when things go this well it's even better .
Enjoy the visit and the good memories .

Good to see the press working out well.
You've captured the soul of the sailboat simply and perfectly.

Wow John, these are beautiful. You nonchalantly say that you made about a dozen of them but they are clever and quite artistic. Crabs, lighthouses and even a curved one that at first does not seem nautical but could certainly represent a big wave. Very nicely done. I'm looking forward to getting together when you return the favor and visit your son.
