Project Information
One of the first few projects that I posted on Lumberjocks when I joined back in 2010 was a new desk I had made for my office. I was very pleased with the router marquetry I had done on the doors at the time and in all fairness I still like them but the challenge was there to use my improved marquetry skills and tools to do a little upgrading….................... I do love a challenge.
I got the new ones hung a couple of days ago and thought I'd post them as a project on their own. There are two more copies of this marquetry as it was cut in piece by piece in four layer packets but as they are being treated differently I'll post them separately in a few days when they're done.
The marquetry is of course all cut on the chevalet, the glue is of course all hot hide and the finish is of course French polish. The last photo is the shot of my boat Friendship and since that's me at the helm, I guess these are self portraits (at a distance).
There's not much story here except for the saga of my marquetry adventure of the last couple of years so I'll leave it at that. If you are interested in the production of this piece I did a blog on it here.
