Marking Gauge for Swap

I like this because it's not your traditional marking gauge. You were really thinking outside the box on this one and it probably has the most ergonomic handle of all the gauges around! Nice. And thanks for using the proper tag!

That is one beautiful marking gauge. I like the use of hex key. It must of taken you a while to grind the key down, seeing they are hardened. I do have a question about the Paduck. I know when I am sanding Paduck next to a lighter wood , the red color transfers to the lighter color wood. Will the red color transfer to the wood you are scribing a line to?

I cut the hex key with a dremel tool then ground it on a crank grinder, touched up on sandpaper; and yeah, it took a lot longer than I expected. No problems with red transferring when I tested it.

Thanks everyone. The blade turned out very sharp, it takes a light hand or you'll cut fairly deep. The one thing I agonized over was bevel in or out and I couldn't find a consensus so I went the easy way and put the bevel facing out/forward. The tricky part which really wasn't so trick in the end, was getting a perfectly perpendicular mortise inside the handle. After a couple no-go's, I glued the handle from 2 pieces, each with a shallow dado which gave my drill bit a path to follow.

That's freakin' sweet! I'm glad I mailed mine off before you posted pics! Mine would have never left the house out of embarrassment lol!
