Project Information

This is just a simple mallet I made from scraps of hard maple and walnut. It weighs in at 20 ounces, and hefts well in the hand.

I keep too many scrap bits of wood around the shop, even small bits with flaws in them like the piece of walnut shown in the below picture. I hate to throw away wood.



This is what I refer to as "adequately glued". Note the high-tech clamping solution:



The dowels are mostly for a decorative effect, since the head is "adequately glued" :) I wish I would have thought to route the handle reliefs before I assembled the mallet. Would have made that final step a bit easier.



And here she is-ready for whackin' some stuff.

Nice use of scraps think i might have to start using my scraps up really like the mallet well done.
