Project Information

4' x 7' maple slab with maple base. Just wrapping up this project in time for the fine furnishing show in Rhode Island. This table will obviously be the centerpiece of my booth. Lots of issues had to be addressed with this piece…spalting, splits, insect damage, overgrown hardware (nails), and a few stray bullets..This is the second slab that i have used from this tree and i have 2 more.

That is a really fine table. How did you finish it? I really like the grain and spalting figure, though it must have been a chore to work. How did you flatten and smooth the slab?

That's a beautiful table! I love that live-edge slab, and those butterflies!

Beautiful table! Wish I could saw 4' wide slabs on my mill. Love the bowties and character of this slab. Need a close up of the bullets.
