It has been a while since you have done a bowl but this one is gorgeous. The wood has some nice coloring. I can well understand why you chose this piece of wood for the bowl. It "turned" out nicely. :)

Thanks for posting this.

This is a diamond, and I won't even say, "in the rough". It has a simplicity that feels almost ritual; As if anyone's hands would fit and want to linger.
Lovely

Beautiful bowl. It has very unique patterns to it's wood. Nice finish as well. Thanks for sharing.

Every time I see another bowl, Makes me want to turn one myself. Never have. I just hope my first one will turn out as nice as this one did.

Very cool bowl, Dorje.

Was this wood wet or dry when you turned it?

Thanks y'all!

johnjoiner - this one was mostly air dried, though had a few moist spots…

Sharad - sorry, no more pics - this one went to my mom…

Dorje,

Thanks for the timely post! Right now I have a maple blank chucked in the lathe and attempting to create a bowl. Seeing what you have done give me the encouragement to continue. I can only hope that mine turns out as nice as yours.

Dorje, this is one great bowl. The contrast in color and grain are remarkable enough, but with hints of spalt and curl (two elements I am sure we are both highly fond of) it really gets sweeter. Best of all though is the wide shallow configuration and the crispness of the detail. Good stuff, partner.
