Project Information

I have finally completed my son and daughter-in-laws mantel surround and bookcases. We had to do some demolishing and rebuild the fireplace front. I built the mantel and surround first and then completed the project with the bookcases. The bookcases rest on cabinets and go to the ceiling and are finished off with crown moulding.
The right cabinet is basically the IT cabinet for my sons TV, Receiver, Main speaker for the surround sound, X-box and other stuff that only his generation knows about. He pulled all of the wires from the ceiling behind the wall and we cut plug holes in the b-board for the connections. It really came out clean. (if you look in my forum questions about cutting these holes, I have info on a tool I used and several helpful hint from other LJs). The left cabinet is mainly for storage. The best part of the whole project was having my 3 year old grandson helping with the installation. I hope you enjoy.

Thanks, and Yes the fireplace is functional. We had it cleaned out and then properly reinstalled all of the fire bricks etc.prior to installing the mantel.
