Project Information

Yes I watch NCIS and observed Gibbs in his basement at a large bench and a tool holder. He is also a Shopsmith 10 ER owner. So I found a still photo and did what I could copying the tool holder. My base is 15 inch and I marker the 45 corners at 2.5 inches. I had to glue up to get the 15 inch and had planned the box to be 3.5 inch wide so I was marking center and spacing while it glued. The top boards are a Home Depot wood yard stick with 1/2 inch holes. I showed the glue up of corner overlap to keep it square. After a test fit I marked center for the ruler and notch. I had some 3/4 strips to make the end supports cut to fit. I gave it one big test fit and then a coat of stain for some color after sanding. I used epoxy glue for all the parts. The rule and orange numbers gives a nice look and there are usually 5 holes. In the photo I had, Gibbs has styrofoam for tools, I plan to use a tall cup for pencils and scissors. I did not see his above the table for a lazy susan but that would be a nice feature and dividers in the box. In the photo I guessed his holder to be about 24 inch wide but that's a lot of bench room, if you have it go for it. His was showing small stains and brushes. Again a very customizable tray if you have the bench room.
