Project Information

hi evereyone all is well love working the wood lathe. here are a couple of pieces i have done they came out very well i was very proud of my job. the steamed madrone burl is a outstanding wood type very stable and some great figure. you just never no how going to look untill i apply the minereal oil. i like mineral oil because it isnt toxic. all my pieces are usere frendly. sometimes i let wood dry slowly or stack tight this helps blue wood. blueing develps diffent colors along grain almost like camofloge. thes are some of my earlier works wen i was just learning lathe. i have good amount of cured dry madrone with minor moisture. large bowl about 12 by 3in thick smaller one about 5 in 3 in thick. i sold these pieces to a friends brother he fell in love and are his favorit out of his bowl colection. he has over one hundred from around the world i gave him a dinamite deal. i was proud and suprised to find out that they are his center pieces at his house hurray. wood turning is fun one day i will get my large 1950s lathe up and running so i could create larger pieces.
hope you like my work. and have fun woodworking fellow frends. i allways love to give advice and talk wood.
chow chow form oregon take care and enjoy life.

Very nice Chad. The mineral oil brought out some great color. It sounds like your friend got a good deal!
