Project Information

I finally built the lumber rack I have been planning for a long time. It is pretty much based on the popular Wood Whisperer design, with adjusted dimensions to fit my needs.

It is made from construction lumber and scrap 3/4" plywood (one support uses 1/2" baltic birch plywood instead). I laminated them solidly with lots of glue - the screws are mainly there to hold things in alignment during glue up. After assembly I took them to the router table and rounded over all the plywood edges.

Each one is held to the wall with 4 high-grade construction screws. They turned out plenty strong - I can easily hang from a single one.

Also in the pictures you can see my inspiration for the project - some awesome lumber I scored for a great price. I'm definitely excited to start making some projects with it!

Looking good, like the rest of us you'll need more and more storage as you go on. Never enough room. LOL Nice score on the lumber look fwd to seeing some future projects.

Very nice work, and without spending 50 to 70 bucks on a commercial deal. If I may ask, what are the dimensions of the actual brackets/wood pieces, Thanks.

Rex, Thank you so much, have most of the walls filled up in the garage, but do have some limited wall space up high, and your innovative idea will fill the need. Mine wont be as finished as yours, but should work. Much appreciated.
