Thanks yall… I like working with sinker cypress and it is far better looking than new growth cypress.
The only negative is that much of it has a very high resin content and constantly gums up the tools and sandpaper.
Other than that I love working with it. Just gotta make sure to clean the wood thoroughly with acetone prior to gluing and finishing.

yeah that cypress is eye candy,really makes those boxes pop.

Impressive wood. Nice boxes too. Due to the grain, I'm not sure of how distressed they are. I can see it from the sides mostly in that they aren't quite flat.

Very cool! Are those partial holes dug in the wood or is that just the grain? I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. That wood has amazing colors and looks like shale the way it's layered. Congrats on your DT3
