I looked up authentic "long swords" to get dimensions. The blade is 35 inches, cross-guard is 9 inches and the hilt is 10 inches (plus 2 inch pommel).
Blade width is 1 3/4 inches. It assembled from the 4 parts mostly like a real metal sword would be. This is a through-tang all the way back to the pommel with a brass pin through the pommel and tang. The blade is a laminate of 1/8 inch jatoba-beech-jatoba so 3/8ths total thickness. The contrast adds a nice "sharpened" edge look to the blade. The jatoba almost looks like a fuller.

I beveled the blade edge on the tablesaw. I had to sand down the edge a bit to dull it as it was VERY sharp off the saw.

I'm really happy with the end result. The blade is well balanced and very light. It would certainly leave a mark if used (then break I'm sure).
