Project Information

This top is made from 2 1 3/4" thick reclaimed natural edge slabs of walnut. Base is two 3" square tube steel frames 22"w x 28"h. Total build is 7 1/2'L x 29 1/2"h width varies from 24 3/4"- 31 1/2". It is heavy, heavy, heavy. Finished in a satin Waterlox mixture. I had a LJ buddy help me with this build and in no way could have put this monster together without his assistance and guidance.

Ted, Lol. No I have not, but I did wonder when seeking comps where the 24K gold inlay was on some of the pieces I've seen with whopping price tags. It does not surprise me one bit! Hope all is well in PA. Take care bud!

This was the direction my dinner table was going to go. I KNEW it would look good and it does. SWMBO decided the weight was a turn off.

Nice looking table.

I like the monster book matched walnut slabs you turned into a table top with industrial metal legs to finish it off, cause no way pocket screws and wood skirting could support this. What is the thickness of the slab? It look like 4" to me. You two lumber jock buddies must been strong as tractors to lift this beast.

With these slabs how did you go about surfacing them? Do you have industrial sized tools and equipment or lots of hand sanding and scrapping etc. Concerning the legs, did you get a metal shop to fabricate them for you or a independent welder? My bucket list includes a table with metal legs too, but more of a coffee table size. Thanks
