Project Information

This was a custom project for a home theater. The owner wanted a custom bartop that would sit behind a large couch which was directly in front of their home theater screen. We settled on a design that would allow bar stools to sit under the bartop at a normal bartop height of 43". The bartop is 8' long. The A-frame legs are joined using loose tenons (domino) connected by a long strecher on the bottom that is joined with a keyed mortise and tenon and a long top support that fits into a notch. The piece is designed to knock down so that it can be easily transported. The bartop is a 2' live edge slab. The bar was made uses three 10' 8/4 slabs of walnut. The finish is General Finishes Arm-R-Seal with 3 coats on all parts and 5 coats on the bar top.

The slabs were purchased from Second Chance Hardwoods in Elkton, MD.
