I made one of these way back in high school for my Mom. Somehow she lost it or it got broken and she really wanted another one for her birthday. I still have lots of Sapelli left overs from my uncle so I used some of the more visually appealing pieces for this. I used box joint construction. I just traced a 12 french curve tool to make a place for the pen/pencil to rest. It holds regular adding machine paper and there is a little coping saw blade at the bottom to tear off the paper.
