Project Information

I made one of these way back in high school for my Mom. Somehow she lost it or it got broken and she really wanted another one for her birthday. I still have lots of Sapelli left overs from my uncle so I used some of the more visually appealing pieces for this. I used box joint construction. I just traced a 12 french curve tool to make a place for the pen/pencil to rest. It holds regular adding machine paper and there is a little coping saw blade at the bottom to tear off the paper.

I love it! We made some very simple holders for the children in our after-school Bible club to paint and assemble. I wanted one for our kitchen but didn't really want it painted on poplar. Thanks for the inspiration.

How do you change the paper roll?

A great looking job. Is there a pencil holder or pen holder attached to it?

I love the flatsawn Sapele.

i should make one of these for my wife, but then my lists would never get completed. I should make one and put only 10" of paper on it.

I routed a 3/8" wide 1/4" deep grooves down the the inside of the walls. This allows a 3/8" dowel to slide in and out to replace the paper roll. The pencil holder is in the design where the wall hooks at the botttom. It allows you to rest a pencil/pen across the two walls.

Nice job, looks good.

When I first read it my eyes skipped around. I thought it was a toilette tissue despinser, and was wondering "man what kind of TP do you use that you need a cutter for it?" LOL
