Project Information

Had to make a liquor cabinet to sort of match the whiskey cabinet I made (http://lumberjocks.com/projects/312538). Like the whiskey cabinet, this was a frustrating experience that dragged on for months rather than being what I initially envisioned as a quick project. I think I've had enough of hand cut half blind dovetails for awhile. I'm not overly sold on the look the hairpin legs give the cabinet, will have to add making a base for the cabinet to my list of future projects.
Claro walnut with cherry, finished with Minwax "tung" oil.

Dec 30/18
Finally got around to changing the door and the base. Was never really happy how I did it in the first place; the last pic reflects the change.

Sometimes they take on a life of their own. Did you make a model before to get a three dimensional perspective?

I think it's a beautiful cabinet. Nice job. The dovetails are impressive

Thanks guys!
Doc- prob should have made a model beforehand. I sometimes do, in this case it would have helped with the look of the legs and the proportion of the cabinet.

tscarswell- Thanks! I would like to make more vids, it's just so labour intensive to make them. That's the thing about a hobby, when it starts to seem like work, it's not fun anymore. Hopefully this fall I'll have a bit more motivation to do some filming again.

Beautiful work as usual. My projects inevitably take four times as long as I expect them to. The 10 minute project does not exist, although I have made a few small shop gizmos in 20 minutes or less… (-:

A fine looking liquor cabinet-though it looks to need a bit more bourbon….....!

Top part is gorgeous. Wood on the sides and the dovetails are really nice.

The bottom front panel with the white something or another doesn't really gel with the top panel. I would have carried the same look below at least in terms of the kumiko. Just too much white space.

Hate to critique, but the wood is so beautiful it might be worth it to work on it a bit more.

I agree, I dont really like to bottom panel. Its just too plain for the rest of the unit, I think a nice wood panel would be a better choice and give the piece a warmer feel.

Otherwise the rest of it is beautiful.
