Project Information

42, 45, 46, 47, 52, 54

I'm calling it Canarywood. The finial, I know, is Shedua. It's about 4" X 4", and 5" tall. Finished in YG and HS.

And, because that's not nearly enough words…

One more word, and some numbers.

I need a new wood burning pen.

Thank you. And, I apologize.

Gorgeous, Mark!

It must have been a real bear to sand and get that beautiful finish.

Bob: Thanks.

Lew: Thanks. Yes, it was a lot of work.

Larry: I don't do "organic." I won't even drink milk unless it came from a lactose-free, free-range, flatulent-free unicorn. (That's a joke. Think about it. If there were anything such as "flatulence-free unicorns," there would be no rainbows, which, as anyone knows, are unicorn vapor trails.)

Jim, John, Dave, Bambi, and Ivan: Thanks.

The finial, I failed to mention, came from a blank of Shedua that was waiting around to be a pepper mill or something like that. It was about 9" X 2" X 2". I used the whole thing. I cut it in half, and began tuning, with an eye towards an eccentric finial like the one you see here. The first half let loose a big, very sharp, shard that put a really ugly gash on my left index finger. (I got very upset, as it's a finger I use a lot, and, frankly, cannot imagine myownbadself having any reason to go on, should I somehow be deprived of its use. It's okay, now.) I muddled through, and was coming right along, when it broke in the chuck. I used the other half, in an entirely different way of going about it.

Mark,

Sorry to hear about your finger. You'll be reminded of the experience every time you view that lovely turning and can PTL for saving your finger as well.

Thanks for sharing.
