Project Information

Most of the time when I am working on a commission I have the client dictating certain aspects of the build. For this project I received a grant and had complete autonomy with the design.
It is made from Black Walnut and has typical Maloof style joinery with ebony plugs over the mechanical fasteners. It has two seats with black vinyl upholstered slip cushions. The finish is minwax wipe on satin ploy followed by a home made beeswax and oil mix.
Now a major motion picture….on youtube ;)

Oh Man! That piece is so elegant, and, and…I'm at a loss here. In my mind, that would be a forever Valentine's Day gift to someone you love everlasting.

This project is outstanding! Inspiring piece of work! I really love the blended joints and carving work to make it look like the piece is formed from a single piece of wood. Amazing job. This makes me want to go out in my shop now and get to work. Cheers!

Outstanding work. Besides the beauty and craftsmanship, the design invites you to sit down and take a load off. Thanks for posting.

I don't build from plans most of the time, though I probably should. I just like to wing it. Glad you liked it shed4home.

I know I posted here already, but I have to say, if I saw it out in the wild, my mind would tell me I already knew who designed and made this piece. I think that is the true hallmark of a master artisan - when they can exhibit their own individual language of design through their creations and it's recognizable as being unique. I don't believe I'll ever come near that level of skill, but it's inspirational to witness what you are capable of Brian! Your videos are damn good too ;)

I don't think anyone would disagree with my assessment and come to think of it, maybe I should commission a few pieces as an investment before they become too unaffordable LOL

As for the shop, you're welcome to come here and fill it full of chips and dust when ever you want. I know I don't do it justice.

Thanks, I think I need to plan a trip out there. My kids want to see the Statue of Liberty.
