Project Information

Letterbox that accepts packages. Opening the lid pulls an inside tablet (green in the see-through drawing) into horizontal position with steel wires, so the package can be placed on the tablet. Closing the lid causes the tablet to drop into vertical position again and the package to fall into the lower compartment. The package can not be retrieved from above.
Made from afzelia wood treated with Danish oil. Dimensions: H 120 cm; W 40 cm; D 40 cm. The house number is carved 3 mm deep using my Shaper Origin and then filled with green epoxy resin.

Great idea, and looks nice. That should stop some of those porch pirates.

I like it and it looks beautiful. It is a deterrent and limits their ability to see what's in there.

Very attractive piece. Was this your design, it's very clever. I looked through your gallery of work and was impressed, you are very talented. So many great works to look at.

So, how do YOU retrieve the package? The only way out I see is through the top, which closes off. Looks like the mail goes straight to the bottom as well.

Great project. I need something like this as we get deliveries at the end of a long driveway.

There is a door with lock at the back, giving access to the lower compartment. And yes, regular mail drops straight to the bottom.

Thanks Rob. Your Dutch is good :).
Yes, I drew green rectangles on the side and in the bottom of the table to indicate the approximate maximal size of the package, to avoid things get blocked by oversized boxes. In case the package doesn't fit there is another place at the back of the house where it can be dropped, or I have to retrieve it the next day from a collection point.
