Project Information

Unfortunately, this is a bittersweet project. I just finished setting up my new table saw and router in the extension table. This is the first project.

This past week, a young man lost his life in an auto accident while on his way home from work. Apparently he fell asleep and run off the road, rolling his vehicle several times, and he was ejected. Two of our daughters went to school with him and his brother. He and his brother helped with the water damage clean up after Hurricane Ike damaged our house in 2009.

A friend of ours asked if I could make a cross so they could put it on the side of the road where the accident happened. I couldn't say no. I bought a 1 inch treated deck board and made this simple cross. It will be ready tomorrow. Our friend said he was going to get a simple plaque made for the cross.

This is a sad way to end the year for sure. I hope his family will appreciate it.

Nice cross. Also, a reminder to us all how fragile life is.

A kind and lasting gesture, not to mention, a tactful design.

Thanks.

Our friend had a plaque made for the cross. He sent me a couple of pics of it after they had placed it at the accident site but I can't figure out how to post it. It is a media file sent by a text message. I was glad to help.
