Project Information

We just completed this large coffee table. The redwood top measures 65×46… it has turquoise inlay through out and we used several coats of Seal A Cell

The base is a solid pine burl that we found setting on top of the ground but connected by tree roots. It is solid and very very heavy. We ended up adding two coats of pickled oak stain to the base to darken. Our clients did not like the white burl contrast with the redwood….. It all came out nicely…...

Thanks for looking and hope all of you lumberjockers are doing fantastic

Came out great. Are all the turquoise inlay sections natural cracks, or are they carved? They look amazing regardless.

This is so cool! Everything fits together like it belongs there. Even the turquoise inlay looks just right, not overpowering. I got a redwood burl bowl blank and one of these days, I'm going to turn it after looking at this table top. I forgot how cool looking it is.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments…..

The turquoise inlay was added to natural cracks or lines in the wood, they were carved out to make them larger. If the turquoise vein is too small it looks milky and unclear,

The redwood slab we ordered from redwoodburl.com the pine burl we harvested locally.

The redwood slab was pretty level and flat when we received it, we have a homemade jig and used a router to "re-level" the slab,,,,,, we set up the jig and router to level and flatten the pine burl as well.
