Project Information

I needed some place in my crowded garage to store my stepladders. So I looked above my garage doors and thought that space is wasted. So I measured and found out that my ladders would store there.

I took 4" strips of plywood for the 8' ladder and 2' strips for the 6'. I used cutoff 2×4's that I cut to the wideth of the ladders at top and bottom plus 8" and 4" for each ladder. I also added a few inches so the ladders won't be tight when sliding them in.

After a few screws the brackets were done. Next I screwed the brackets into the ceiling. Next I slid both ladders in. Done. No more ladders in the way.

Hope this helps some of you like me with limited space.

I like it but where they are above the door, do you need a ladder to get your ladders? :) I did something similar using furring strips for wood storage.

Good job Gerald. I did the same to mine. No sense wasting space.
I put some of my extra fishing poles up there too.

good idea. Wish I could do that, but it is full of fishing poles that claimed that space many years ago ;-))
