Project Information

I built this using 2×10 hem-fir construction lumber. Painted it a bunch of coats to match the truck. Sorry stain fans :)) It works well for securing ladders and conduit keeping them damaging the window or paint. The small window cut out is so I can see the 5th wheel hitch when hooking up.

I made a rack for my Gem top canopy years ago that would hold lot of lumber. I welded the wood tho. ;)

I wanted to keep it low so it will fit in parking garages. One of the down sides of Sea-Tac area. Fortunately, i don't go in 'em much :))

At first I couldn't see what you were talking about Bob, but using my keen eyesight I did finally spot it. A very good idea to save your vehicle. It's really easy to do expensive damage in the heat of the moment.

Hauling conduit and ladders all the time would definitely damage the back of the cab. I could never find a commercially made system that would work with my tonneau cover. I thought it would look a little tacky being made of 2xs. Guess nobody really notices it isn't part of the truck ;-))
