Project Information

I was getting sick of my black plastic sawhorses and had a pile of scrap wood laying around. Beats throwing the cut off pieces from previous projects into the fire pit. It is a standard krenov style sawhorse, but I added a few curves to lighten up the shape a bit. Everyone I have shown these to think they are a decorative blanket rack for the house. They shake their head when they find out I use them as sawhorses.

Wood: White oak and bur oak
Joinery: Wedged through mortise and drawbore mortise and tenon.
Wedges: Black walnut
Finish: Natural danish oil

I'm looking at it and I'm thinking, "valet". I want to hang my suit on it. Very nice job and a nice alternative design to a sawhorse Looks like it will be light yet solid to use. Easy to move around the shop unlike the A frame ones I have.

Very nice, what height? I built a pair at Inside Passage, Ash, with a wipe of Shellac:) have been meaning to build another pair a little higher. Even have the wood milled, for the last 3 or 4 years.

Those look great! Many think that spending the time to make nice looking shop furniture and fixtures is a waste of time, but I appreciate good design and execution in just about everything we build.
