Project Information
Made out of walnut and mahogany with a solid cherry back and 4 coats of Formby's tung oil mix and a coat of paste wax. This was my first experience with an oil finish, in the past I used forms of poly urethane and laqour, needless to say I will be using oil finishes from now on. You just can't beat the fact that dust will not effect the finish
I finished it a couple months back and had it in the shop accumulating dust. I finally got it to my moms basement where I could take pics with my new photo equipment (looks like I have a new hobby). I started building it with only an idea in mind and figured out dimensions as I went along (I gotta stop doing that). I had to cut 4 inches from the front and back, it looked awkward.
I hand-cut the dovetails for all 6 drawers and used sliding dovetails for the case and shelf along with the frame for the drawers. I the pulls are shop made and took about a day to do, good thing i made extras. I enjoyed building this piece a lot and I hope I can find a sucker (joking) to buy it off me at one of the art festivals I am in this summer.
It is rare that I see a comment posted of someone that doesn't like the work shown. I am doing my best to make a career out of this so I would like for anyone to be candid about their true feelings about this project, my feelings won't be hurt.
Thanks for looking
