Workshop Information

Location
Canada
My workshop is like many - a 2-car attached garage in a suburban home. It's roughly 21' x 21' with an 8' ceiling but plenty big enough for what I would like to do.

The first thing I did was obtain some free florescent light fixtures to bump up the two 60W bulbs that weren't quite cutting it! I now have four rows of lights, each with three two-bulb fixtures. There's enough light to attract every insect that is within a few hundred feet of the house!

My equipment is as follows (pics to come later):

Table saw - King Canada KC-10RC
  • 10" right-tilt
  • 54" Biesemeyer extension and T-square
  • 2HP motor running at 240V

Drill press - Powersonic SMD89P
  • 17" Floor standing
  • 1HP motor running at 120V

Jointer - King Canada KC-6JC
  • 6" 4800RPM jointer
  • 1HP motor running at 120V

Bandsaw - Craftsman 113.179520C
  • 12" tilt head
  • 1725 RPM
  • 1.5HP motor running at 120V

Planer - King Industrial KC-385FX
  • 15" x 8" planer
  • 16 or 30 FPM
  • 5000RPM 3 blade cutterhead
  • 3HP motor running at 240V

Dust Extractor - Ridgid WD1450 14Gal
  • Ok.. it's a shop vac!

Compressor - Speedaire 3JR76
  • 60 gal
  • 18.7CFM @ 90 PSI
  • 1.5HP motor running at 240V

Other useful hand tools worth mentioning:

Biscuit joiner - Porter Cable 557

Spray gun - Asturo WB with 1.5 and 2.0 tips

Numerous air tools

I think a lot of people have your "dust extractor". Vancouver is one of my favorite towns to visit….......

Hey Jim,

I'll send a PM shortly. Looks like I might be just around the corner from you!

a1Jim,
I'll get some pictures posted soon. It' not really a workshop at the moment as I'm in the middle of reno's and the garage is storage space at the moment, but I'll take pictures to show the transformation from disaster to paradise!

Ahh.. I finally got my planer and a pretty good deal for it as well.

I know I know… photos. Once I complete some of the remaining reno's, I will post some pics and probably blog about the progression of the workshop.
