Project Information

While remodeling our house our kitchen needed a new light fixture. I wasn't happy with any of the commercially available ones so I decided to make my own. I started with a 4', 4 tube drop in light fixture. Wrapped it in red oak and box jointed the corners. Added a small bead detail around the edges and finished it with 2 coats of sanding sealer and 2 coats of polyurethane.

Nice work, so much better than the store bought ones. Nice box joints as well.

Nice light!
Why pay for one when you can make you owe. I wasn't happy with the commercial one either so I did what you did.
Nice job on the joints!

Thanks for the nice comments. I know it isn't a very impressive project but I was glad to finally finish something. Remodeling the house keeps getting in the way of woodworking.
