Project Information

This is my project even though I had my husband make it for me.

I wanted to get rid of the old dark wood cabinets that were put in by the builder. My husband came upon some lumber called Ambrosia Maple at a sawmill. So he started making the cabinets.

This was a work in progress. I'm still trying to find the pictures of the completed job, so forgive the mess and the drywall putty.

The Ambrosia maple was resawn into 1/4" slices so that it could be used as the panels in the raised panel doors. The original wood was 12" wide. So one board wide was used for each door so the door on the left would be the "A" slice, and door 2 would be the "B" slice and so on so that 4 doors could be made with one board and they were all bookmatched. The styles and rails were regular maple. The finish was lacquer.

The counter top was a maple bowling alley with walnut trim and backsplash.

We have since sold the house and so I'm looking for new cabinets in our new home. So far I'm still waiting.
