Project Information

The kitchen was filled with old, dark cabinetry when we moved in. This was another home improvement project where I wish I'd taken some before photos. These cabinets have a Maple panel with a Birdseye Maple frame. The glass is a smoky glass. By the time the project was done, it felt like my shop was a door and drawer factory.

The cutout on the island was suggested by my brother-in-law. He bet it would become a gathering place. He was right. When we have company, people seem to gather in that little open corner.

Because of the environment, the cabinets were finished with polyurethane.

If you are ever having difficulty justifying this expensive hobby, redo your kitchen. You will get the cabinets you want and pay for your shop several times over.

Very nice looking cabinets and an interesting application of the smoked glass. You must feel very satisfied for such a large undertaking which turned out so well.

I love the arc that the top edge of the smoked glass makes, and carries across the row of cabinets. I've never seen anything like that before, and it's very impressive. Kudos!
