Project Information

Continuing my quest to make legacy toys for my granddaughters, I just finished building the Toys & Joys Kenworth Dump Truck (Pattern number 58) for Brianna. It's made of pine and poplar with hardboard accents, and finished with Watco Tung Oil.

I formed the box bed by laminating three pieces of 1/8" hardboard and edging with 3/8" x 3/8"" pine. I love the detail of this plan especially the hydraulic lift mechanism under the dump. For added strength, the cab guard was attached to the box using 1/8" dowels. I also built a storage box from 3/8" plywood to protect the truck for generations.
