Project Information

The box is made of maple burl. The panels on the lid are the same wood as the sides, though the light made them photograph differently. The framing of the lid panels is red African padauk, black walnut, and Osage orange.

The maple is from a rejected gunstock blank. The yellow Osage orange (bois d'arc) is from a Kansas fence post. Only the thin yellow strip between the walnut and the padauk (red) is Osage orange. The four sides and the three lid panels are all maple burl.

Where rejected by one becomes a DT3 winner for another.

You should show the completed box to the maple supplier.
But don't let on to your neighbor where the fence post went!
