This is my tiny little shop, the start of it anyways. We rent a house from my mother-in-law, so I'm not going to be putting a ton of money into the place. The shop is in the basement, where it can be a little crowded. It's nice though because the ceiling is all open, and I can easily tie into power for all the tools. I ran a 1/2" EMT conduit along the wall above the bench, and put 10 duplex receptacles. I'll have to run an additional circuit over from the panel soon, I'm sure the breaker will start tripping since everything is on the same circuit. I also put 5 4' fluorescent light fixtures above, it really lights it up. That's one thing I was lacking before was a decent amount of light. I had to quit whenever it got dark, but I'll no longer have that problem. The bench is just made with 2×4s for the frame, it's about 34" tall. I had an old cabinet sitting down there, so I figured I would incorporate it into the bench. For the top, I used 3/4" OSB. This is tongue and groove, because that's all they carry at Home Depot. It's roughly two feet deep. Then I used an adhesive and set a piece of 1/4" hardboard on top for a smooth finish. It's only been on there for a day or two, and its banged up already, so it might be getting replaced quite often, depending on how picky I end up being about it. Now I just have to make some kind of system to hang tools on the wall. I saw this French cleat design on here, and I would really like to do it, but the walls really aren't even remotely flat, so I'm not sure that would work very well. I'm not crazy about peg board, but I supposed I could use it if I cant come up with anything else. Thanks for looking, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
