Project Information

Here are some pictures of the jewelry chest I built for my wife. It is made out of mahogany and the inlay is maple, walnut and cedar, it measure 23×14 x 7. This was the first time I had the opportunity to use the inlay tools I made. I have to say that the Steve Latta DVDs are amazing . I know there is a lot to improve so I hope I get better at woodworking, it is really relaxing and therapeutic.
Thank you and happy new year
Regards

The chest is awesome. Great build.
Coincidentally, Steve was a guest on The Woodwright's Shop we watched this morning and the Spice cabinet-which is very similar-was the subject of the show. Particularly, they demonstrated how Steve inlays the lettering.

Your inlay work is beautiful, then you open it up to matching spalted drawers how awesome. Now you have to fill it!

Thanks for sharing.

Boris, that is a beautiful chest. I made a spice chest with a similar design (Lonnie Bird's), and I learned alot from the video too. I know your wife loves it.

There is so much to admire about the chest that I don't know where to start, so I will just say OUTSTANDING. I hope to try inlay some day but haven't worked up the nerve yet. Beautiful chest.
