Workshop Information

Location
United States
I am a recent woodworker, having started two years ago, but I have improved with every new project. I mostly make kid furniture and wooden activity sets (easels, dollhouses), cornhole games and house furniture (cabinets, stools, display cases, bookshelves) for friends and family. A bunch of shop furniture as well.
I made a deal with my wife to use the entire garage if we upgraded our kitchen and bathrooms in our Atwood lake cottage (purchased Nov 2017)
The shop is a single bay, double deep garage - 15' x 44'.
The section by the garage door is the breakdown area and the back section is the assembly area.
I repurposed the old kitchen island as my main workbench and the kitchen cabinets give me some tools and supply storage.
I started with second hand tools and progressively upgraded as I improved.
My table saw is a contractor SawStop which I added a beefier fence support table and mobile stand to move as needed ( it's now in its best location). A lot of tools came from my friend's father who had to abandon woodworking because of Parkinson's: (Delta dust collector, belt sander, oscillating spindle sander, planer, scrawl saw, and a bunch of clamps).
I made all the rest of the shop furniture and moved a lot of the wall storage on French cleats to take advantage of the flexibility. The wall mounted A/C unit and dehumidifier are new additions.
Next investments will be an air purifier and a jointer.

And when I am not in the shop, I can be found across the street…

That's real nice, my 12' wide shop seems just a bit too narrow at times, but your 15' isn't so wide that are too far from an outlet at any time. The length is amazing, mine at 24' is pretty good, but 44', wow. Enjoy.

Very cool. Two years huh? Took me 20 to get a shop that well equipped. That's a good sized space too. Keep at it . Looking forward to your project posts.

Great shop space, and I think you got the better deal over the wife. One can't ask for more, a nice shop and a lake to go fishing.

Looking forward to see your projects, and welcome aboard.
