Project Information

WOW !! This was real fun, it took hours to clean out all the loose bark and other stuff from all the hollows in this piece of Knobby burl. (I don't know what else to call it)
Once that was done the next step was to cut a circle, construct a dam and fill it with resin. Mistake No.1 was to use a opaque blue, as well as powdered gold and silver. There was too much blue to throw out so I had to use it, but topped up with clear to make it not so blue. Lesson learned.
The finished platter is 12 inches diameter and 1 1/2 inches tall.
Sanded to 400 and sprayed with Bondall Clear varnish.
Hope you like it and thanks for looking.
C & C Welcome.

It shows well with the two colors. The wood looks more like a sponge and very interesting. Nice work.

Never seen anything quite like it. I actually like the color contrast. That's also the wildest piece of wood I think I have ever seen. Excellent job !!! Mike

Mike, That is exactly what I thought when I saw that piece of wood. I had no idea what I would do with it but it just had to follow me home.

Thanks for the feed back.

Thanks Tony, I always try to make something different apart from bowls and grinders.
Been a bit occupied with other stuff lately.
