Project Information
For our 5 year anniversary, I made my wife this Japanese tool box. The 5 year is the "wood" anniversary, and my wife lived in Japan for a time, so I thought it would be a nice tribute.
The box is made from white pine and meranti. The meranti accent pieces were toned with aniline dye in shellac. The wedges in the tenons are also meranti. The rest of the box was finished in blonde shellac.
This tool box was inspired by Mafe's typically beautiful project as well as OWWM's daninvan's stunning tool box. It was also my first completely hand-cut mortise/tenon work, and first project with wedged tenons.
