Showcase cover image for It's a Wonderful Life!

Project Information

It's a Wonderful Life! Celebrating my oldest sons birthday, one of his favorite movies that never gets old. I made this sign for him from reclaimed materials.

An old walnut sales awards plaque, and maple flooring from a Chicago home built in 1910. Used my scroll saw to cut the panel I made up, oiled and finished with shellac. Happy Birthday son!

Very nice sign indeed. My wife and I have been watching this movie every Christmas with the 800lb black and white television/stereo/8track combo consoles were out. Well, let's just say a few years now.
It never gets old…

My favorite movie as well.

My dawg's name is George Bailey.

I lived in Westchester NY (Katona) in the Town of Bedford, near Croton Falls.

The Bailey farm is in Somers NY. (north part of Westchester)

Oh and nice job on the sign!

Cool sign Dan. I've enjoyed the movie a few times myself in the past. He'll enjoy having this hanging on the wall.

Nicely done. I like the contrast between the woods and the letters.

How did you make the letters?

I'm not hearing any bells. Lol

Haha! The bells, that's Clarence getting his wings!

Thank you, the letters were from a template, there's a ton on google, just used a scrollsaw to cut them. I inserted the internal letters on the top row, B,A,R & O… but the remainder were just too small.

Thanks to-pottz He absolutely loves it, thank you.

Thanks to- BB1 Thank you!

Thanks to-Peteybadboy Petey That's amazing, thank you!

Thanks to- doubleDD Dave, thanks again for showing me your shop, you are an extremely talented artist and a very generous man. Greatly appreciate all your work and for the coozie and jig you bestowed upon me today. All the best.

Thanks to-James E McIntyre, I responded on the letters above. I like the contrast too, wish I could have seen it better before assembling the panel and adding the oil, I might have shuffled a few, but very happy how it turned out.
